City Design 101 - Beta Development
Do you want to plan a Minecraft city? Or, maybe you already have one?
They’re exciting to plan, but fall off the rails quickly. Hard to get done, easy to get sidetracked. Buildings not looking as good as you’d hoped. I know this feeling all too well.
I'm Alpine1, aka Matt, and I've been designing Minecraft cities, buildings, and everything in between since 2013.
Along the way I've learned an enormous amount about cities, earned an undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering, and built multiple Minecraft Cities including the "City of Andea" and the "City of Sequoia".
I've compiled a 23-page PDF of (almost) everything I know about planning, building, and managing a Minecraft city in collaboration with my fellow builders. It is compiled into 5 modules, supported by video content and Microsoft Excel tools (including an advanced building design checklist). There are a handful of Minecraft build schematics for you to use in your own city, although more are coming soon. There is more to discover, but I'll leave that for you!
About me - I have an undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering (structural stream) from Carleton University and am now an Airport Planner as my profession since 2023. I am also a glider and private pilot, meaning I get to apply my knowledge of airport design and the broader societal and economic impacts not only to planning airports, but to metro regions.
