Architects and Civil Engineers are constantly at odds.
An Architectural Engineer bridges the gap.
Hi, I'm Matt.
You may know me as "Alpine1".
I hold an accredited Bachelor of Engineering in Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Engineering as of 2023. Throughout my architectural engineering undergrad, I enjoyed (most of) my classes. It had its ups and downs, as engineering does, but I learned to keep my head above water - and have fun doing it.
The purpose of this course is to clarify what "architectural engineering" actually is, to see if you'd like the material, and to pass along tips & tricks I've discovered over the years as a dean's list student. 20-question FAQ included with video explanations.
This 1h11min course is packed with everything you need to know before applying for a university degree program, helping you make an informed decision.
Worst case, you learn about buildings and see pretty diagrams.
Best case, you find a career you love forever.
Common Questions
1 - Is it the same as Architecture?
No, but there's plenty of overlap.
2 - Will it make me an Architect?
Not without a masters degree.
3 - Will it involve studio time & model building?
Depends on the university. We worked with our hands for projects & labs, but architectural model-making is different.
4 - Will it make me an Engineer?
There's a few years between graduation and earning your Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation. But, assuming you meet all the requirements, yes. Check in your respective country, titles and governance structures vary.
5 - Was it worth the time, effort, and money?
In my opinion, yes. Buildings are awesome.
